Applied Instrument Technologies

Applied Instrument Technologies is the process analytical technology business within the Thompson Group of Companies that manufactures and markets laboratory and on-line analysers primarily to the hydrocarbon, chemical and pharmaceutical/biotech industries.

POGC is the exclusive representative of AIT in Australia & New Zealand. With an installed base of over 3,500 systems worldwide, Applied Instrument Technologies has more than thirty year's experience in manufacturing rugged and reliable process analysers.

Core Technologies include FTIR, FT-NIR, NIR, Mass Spectrometry, Raman and Gas Chromatography.

Analect On-Line and Laboratory FTIR & FT-NIR

FTIR / NIR analysers. measure properties and components of refinery streams by developing calibration models. Several models are available including the stand alone Hydrocarbon Smart System (HSS), RefinIR, Diamond and ChemEye laboratory and the RovIR transportable.

Applications include precision blending, end point determination, environmental and feed stock line out of solids liquids and gases.

PIONIR On-Line and Laboratory Near-IR (NIR)

The Pionir series of analysers are designed for process measurements of gasoline and diesel properties, component streams, and other light petrochemical applications. Absolute Virtual Instrument (AVI™) enables model transfer between multiple model PIONIR 1024 on-line units and PIONIR MVP laboratory units that were designed to support on-line PIONIR's.

Commonly measured parameters include the determination of cetane or octane number (RON, MON, PON), distillation points (10%, 50% 90%, E200, E300) and Reid vapour pressure (RVP)

MGA Process Mass Spectrometer

The MGA series of Multiple Gas Analysers utilise proprietary magnetic sensor technology to provide rapid, accurate and stable real-time monitoring of multicomponent gas streams. Several models are available including the MGA iSCAN that features double-focusing and pulse counting techniques to enable measurement from low ppb to 100%.

Typical process monitoring applications include ambient air, ammonia, ethylene oxide, fermentation, fuel cells analysis, high purity gas analysis, leak detection, blast furnace and coke oven top gas.

RPM Raman Spectroscopy

Raman spectroscopy detects and analyses photons, providing an extremely information rich fingerprint of the molecular structure of the composition of the sample. Both laboratory and on-line models offer advantages over other spectroscopy techniques as they do not require elaborate sampling systems and can be made directly in the process or in a bypass line.

Typical industries include the manufacturing of polymers, petro-chemical, pharmaceutical and food & beverage.

Process Gas Chromatographs (GC)

Applied Instrument Technologies continues to provide full spare parts and service support for the FXi's predecessors, the Foxboro 931C and 931D.
