SIMCO
Simco Engineers Limited was established in 1974 to manufacture Level Gauges and associated valves for the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, and Process industries worldwide. The major International Oil, Gas and Petrochemical companies and contractors for onshore and offshore locations, approve of Simco REFLEX, TRANSPARENT and MAGNETIC type level gauges. Simco operates a totally integrated quality assurance system, which fully complies with ISO 9001 accreditation from BSI Quality Assurance. A modern machine shop with the latest CNC machinery guarantees consistent quality.
Where reliability is paramount, there is no substitute for a direct level indication, no matter how "high tech" the environment. Simco liquid level gauges and valves are used in applications, where clear visual observation of a liquid level is required. Simco level gauges are available in Reflex, Transparent, and Magnetic Indicator designs, for a wide range of pressures and temperatures With combination connections and material options to meet most specifications. The modular nature of the design of the Reflex and Transparent Gauges means that visible lengths from 95mm to in excess of 3200mm can be catered for. Magnetic Gauges are available in one piece up to a visible length of 6000mm. Over 6000mm, the gauge is manufactured in sections.
Simco stock a wide range of materials to meet the demands of the industry including:
ASTM A1O5, ASTM A350-LF2, ASTM A182-304, 304L, 316, 316L, ASTM A182-51, ASTM A182-F44, Monel, Incoloy 625, 825, Hastelloy C, B2, Titanium, other materials are available upon request.
Magnetic gauges
Magnetic gauges give a clear accurate reading of liquid levels without requiring close inspection.
They are particularly useful for corrosive liquids where a conventional flat glass reflex or transparent gauge cannot be utilised as the fluid is entirely contained in a stainless steel chamber carrying a stainless steel or titanium float.
The level indicator is a separate unit clamped to the outside of the gauge chamber, and the liquid level is transmitted from the float in the gauge chamber to the indicator magnetically.
This transmission is constant, reliable, and requires no source of external power. It also allows the fitment of magnetically operated reed switches to the chamber either individually as level switches, or in a chain to provide a level indication.
By varying construction of the float, gauge chamber, and indication rail, Simco magnetic gauges can be tailored for almost all applications:
| Criteria | Minimum | Maximum |
| Operating Pressure | Full Vacuum | 320 Bar |
| Operating Temperature | -50°C | +400°C |
| Liquid Density | 0.35kg/L | - |
| Measuring Length | - | 6000mm |
Many vessel and drain / vent connections are available as standard, allowing the construction of almost any practical design.
Transparent gauges
Transparent gauges give an accurate reading of liquid levels. Clear glass is mounted on the front and back of the gauge. This permits the observer to see not only the level of the liquid, but also its characteristics such as colour or the interface between two immiscible liquids in the same system.
Simco Transparent gauges are available in Series 1000, Series 2000, and Large chamber Series 500.
Large chamber gauges are used for the measurement of turbulent liquids as they tend to stabilise such liquids for more accurate readings.
Simco Transparent gauges are also available in welding pad form.
Welding pad gauges are an effective way to mount flat glass gauges as an integral part of the vessel.
Simco Transparent gauges can be supplied with protection shields such as mica for caustic or steam service.
Simco Transparent gauges can also be fitted with illuminators.
Reflex Gauges
Reflex gauges give an accurate reading of liquid levels. Colourless liquids can be seen using the principles of light refraction and reflection through the special prism glass.
Light striking the area of glass covered by the liquid is allowed to pass to the interior of the gauge - this area appears black. Light striking the area of glass above the liquid is reflected back silver.
The distinct line that separates the black and silver areas shows the actual liquid level in the system.
Simco Reflex gauges are available in Series 1000, Series 2000, and Large chamber Series 500. Large chamber gauges are used for the measurement of turbulent liquids as they tend to stabilise such liquids for more accurate readings.
Simco Reflex gauges are also available in welding pad form.
